MythWatch is a cooperative role‑playing game where you step directly into the past. One player becomes the Guide, describing the world around you. The others are Mythmakers: people connected to history through stories, able to experience them up close. You don’t need prior experience or rule knowledge; just open the book and start playing.

What do you need to play MythWatch?
Surprisingly little! You can make MythWatch as simple or as elaborate as you like. At its core, you only need the following:
The Players
Best played with 3–6 players, with one person acting as the Guide. The Guide describes the world, leads the story, and makes final calls on the rules.
Dice
A small set of five or more six‑sided dice.
Character Sheets
Use one of the ready‑to‑play characters or create your own.

The Guide can create an original story or choose one of the ready‑made MythWatch adventures.

Answers for questions you might have about MythWatch
Do I need experience with role‑playing games?
No. MythWatch is designed for complete beginners and teaches you as you play.
How long does a session take?
Around 2+ hours, depending on your group’s pace and choices. Additionally there are also MythWatch Stories which are booklets with 1 small adventure that take around 45 minutes.
What age is it for?
Ages 12 and up, with content designed to be accessible and engaging for teens and adults. There will be a special MythWatch Stories for kids between 9 and 12 years old.
Is it historically accurate?
The game is inspired by real research, archaeology, and legends, developed together with experts. These include the conservator and researchers of the Frisian Museum, LandesMuseum Emden, The Fryske Akademy, The University of Groningen and the Ostfriesische landschaft.
Can I play with any group size?
MythWatch is ideal for 3 to 5 players, but flexible depending on your group.
Is MythWatch just like Dungeons&Dragons?
Both are roleplaying games but MythWatch is especially made for people who are new to the world of roleplaying and is more history and myth based.

MythWatch: Age of Redbad is developed in collaboration with researchers, archaeologists, and cultural experts over the course of 2 years. Every location, character, and story element is inspired by real findings and early medieval Frisian culture. All visuals are created by real professional artists. No AI was used.
MythWatch is created by foundation Mythemakers. Their goal is to improve social skills by using roleplaying games. The foundation is led by Gerda Roorda, Dirk Jorissen and Melanie de Haan.
